The Card Operator will be responsible for operating cards by supplying fiber and re-workable fiber to hoppers whose purpose is to open fibers and blend fibers together. The Card Operator must exhibit quality awareness while continuing to perform job responsibilities in an efficient manner, meeting or exceeding expectations. They must be able to be present and on time for scheduled workdays for the purpose of maintaining excellent customer service.

Job Requirements

  • Check I.D. before starting each shift, do not run without a proper signature on I.D.
  • Check all machinery and equipment to ensure safe operations before starting machine
  • Make laydowns behind hoppers, remove bale ticket (turn tickets into Receiving Clerk), bailing wires/ ropes and protective covering from bales
  • Open bales of raw materials as necessary to run current lot
  • Open any re-workable fiber to be ran
  • All fiber and re-workable fiber should be torn apart before putting into hoppers to ensure a proper blend of fibers
  • Separate wires, ropes, plastic etc. to dispose of in the proper containers
  • Patrol job keeping hoppers filled by evenly distributing all bales to ensure all bales are completed at the same time
  • Patrol job to creel, repairing end downs and doffing cans
  • Keep cans available for the next doff
  • Push doff cans to storage area
  • Perform SPC sizing as needed, using proper SPC chart
  • Empty pneumafil boxes as needed
  • Sweep and keep work are neat and clean
  • Properly handle any used cardboard, plastic and clean ropes, place all damaged ropes in appropriate container
  • At the end of each blend lot, stop and clean thoroughly
  • Use air hose to clean machine
  • Box unused raw materials
  • Properly handle any waste generated, place in appropriate container
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines as outlined by the Job Safety Analysis for this position
  • Perform any duties assigned by supervisor

 

Key Competencies

  • Standing for 7.5 hours on concrete floor
  • Feed fiber into hoppers with force of 15-20lbs
  • Move 100lbs cans from carding to drawing
  • Must be able to communicate with fixers and supervisors
  • Must have color vision with minimum near vision to distinguish quality defects
  • Must be able to read printed materials and see Quality and Mechanical problems
  • Must be able to lift approximately 10lb bags of re-workable fibers
  • Must be capable of understanding SPC training

Roving Operator – 3rd Shift

The Roving Operator is responsible for supplying cans of stock to the back of Roving Frames whose purpose is to stretch and twist fibers together. The Operator must exhibit quality awareness while continuing to perform job responsibilities in an efficient manner, meeting or exceeding expectations. They must be able to be present and on time for scheduled workdays for the purpose of maintaining excellent customer service.

Job Requirements

  • Move draw cans behind Rovematic
  • Creel full drawing sliver cans as needed and push clean empty cans back to the finisher drawing area.
  • Obtain empty roving bobbins (.5 lbs. each) and doff boxes
  • Patrol job to creel, repairing ends down, and doffing roving bobbins.
  • Patrol job to remove small laps from rolls.
  • Clean clearers and flyers on roving frames as directed.
  • Flag roving ends that require a fixers attention
  • Identify roving bobbins with chalk marks (when needed)
  • Gather empty roving bobbins / boxes for the next doff.
  • Stack empty roving bobbins in bins.
  • Push boxes of full roving bobbins to the proper storage area.
  • Perform SPC sizing as needed, using proper SPC Chart
  • Empty pneumafil boxes as needed.
  • Sweep and keep work are neat and clean
  • At the end of each blend lot, stop and clean thoroughly.
  • Use air hose to clean machine
  • Bag unused raw material, all soft waste must be torn up before putting into bags and identified.
  • Properly handle any waste generated , place in appropriate container
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines as outlined by the Job Safety Analysis for this position

  • Ensure bobbins are being loaded on track and service any alarms

  • Make ID’s for each spinning doff
  • Transport each spinning doff to spinning doff staging area
  • Assist spinner in taking down empty roving bobbins when full frame creels
  • Take empty roving bobbins to proper stagin area
  • Sweep entire Zinzer spinning area often enough that area appears clean at all times
  • Perform any duties assigned by supervisor
  • Service H&W conditioner:
  • Load full buggies of yarn into H&W conditioner cabinet
  • Remove yarn from conditioner cabinet
  • Transport conditioned yarn to doubler yarn area and/or elevator for transport

 

Key Competencies

  • Must be able to stand for 7.5 hours on a concrete floor
  • Must be able to push full boxes of yarn between 90-125lbs to the staging area
